The focus of this role is to learn and contribute to the engineering team. This role focuses on security systems, and technology and has the opportunity to gain fire and safety system knowledge.


This opportunity is intended to give you hands-on experience and exposure to our environments. We aim to enhance your overall learning experience, help build your network, and accelerate your opportunity to make an impact. This opportunity has the potential to move into a permanent position as a full-time System Design Engineer. Once training is complete this opportunity has the flexibility of working a hybrid schedule with time in and out of our Grand Rapids office.

What You Can Expect To Learn And Do

  • Logistics Design – Calculating and simulating for efficient designs
  • Project Estimating – Estimating bill of material for clients
  • System Solutions – Designing and building solutions for clients
  • System Expert- Become knowledgeable and experienced in multiple security systems including fire and life safety systems
  • Optimizes Work Processes – Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • You will learn how to work with the following softwares; Revit, 3D Max, Brics, including  AUTOCAD
  • You will learn how to Change building material, and designs, and support the field team
  • Maintain an open line of communication with sales teams and Supporting and collaborating with other team members to develop solutions.
  • Look at the big picture and the little details; choose products and solutions that meet client expectations and uphold SecurAlarm standards and philosophies.

Requirements

  • Position will require you to be located by our Grand Rapids, MI office for in-person training.
  • Must be able to come into the office part-time or Full Time  (two-three times a week) Heavy office presence for training
  • Some Experience with low-voltage electricity
  • Experience in understanding blueprints/Wiring diagrams
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • You are currently attending a university, Community college, or trade school and have completed at least your junior year toward your undergraduate degree, or higher or are in a field related to the following Computer Science, Computer Engineering, engineering field, cyber security, physical security, law enforcement, video game developer, coding or Web design
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitudes and the ability to work independently on multiple issues with very strong written and verbal communication skills
